St Margaret’s Chapel
The former hospital site located in Surry Hills was largely redeveloped in the early 2000’s, which saw the former chapel designed by architect Ken Woolley being reused as a gallery. This redevelopment included the removal of the Narthex, but the chapel building itself was retained.
The building was recently purchased by a plastic surgery clinic, who engaged Grazi Prada (while working for NBRS) to prepare the adaptive reuse designs for the building. Grazi prepared a detailed survey of the existing fabric of the building, the design for a new mezzanine level within the original chapel, a revised Conservation Management Plan and a Heritage Impact Statement for the proposal. She also coordinated a number of other consultants including interior designers, structural, fire, electrical and mechanical engineers.
